Northstar Dance-O-Rama (Day 2)

Date: August / 24 / 2007
Closed Freestyles & Masquerade Party

Friday morning started out with our Closed Freestyle Competition!!  The students that came to compete from all of the Arthur Murray Studios from around the country were competing at their respective levels and categories, in the dances of their choice.  With 5 - 10 couples on the floor at a time, they danced from Newcomer and Associate Bronze all the way up to Full Gold categories.  It was exciting to be a part of, and even more fun to watch!  We had a roomful of spectators enjoying the afternoon and cheering on all of our competitors.

Friday Night was full of mystery, masks and costumes!!  We had our own masquerade party, called "Cirque Du Danse".  The ballroom was decorated with incredible, bright colored murals and tons of balloons.  All of our creatively dressed students were greeted at the door by a pair of dancing statues.  And inside during dinner, we had some great "Cirque" characters.  A juggler and ribbon twirler entertained a very captive audience.  After an incredible dinner, we enjoyed social dancing and mingling with our friends from all of the participating Arthur Murray's.  Then the 2007 Northstar Dance-O-Rama competition continued.  Our pro-am competitors took the floor and danced in our All-Around and Scholarship Competitions.  Our own Minneapolis students, Zhuojing Liu and Nancy Witowski worked hard and won 1st place in their All Around Competitions, in their respective categories!  John Larsen and Patsy Gerde also took awards in their All Around Competitions.  Sandy Navin took 1st place in his Scholarship division for both Rhythm and Smooth, and so did Tom McCarvel, who placed 2nd in both of his Scholarship Competitions!  Congratulations to all of our competitors!
